CSI Miami: Eric/Calleigh Tension?

Photobucket"The tension is building, and there's only so long we can probably wait to pounce on each other,"

So says Adam Rodriguez when discussing his and Emily Procter's characters (Eric and Calleigh) on CSI Miami. Then, there's the little matter of Jake (Johnny Whitworth) to throw into the mix. There's plenty of shippers out there for both duos.

My take? Both are strained, contrived and unrealistic. The easy banter and obvious friendship between Eric and Calleigh has been apparent since the first season. In those early days, few sought an alliance beyond that.
When TPTB began to promote a possible romance, their relationship took on a surreal, soapy texture. As the pairing blossomed in the minds of the fans, it's been played to the hilt. And then....enter Jake! Johnny Whitworth provides a necessary tension and has done it well. But it can't last.

I have detected little, if any, sexual tension between Eric and Calleigh. You want romance and sex on CSI Miami? Go back to the drawing board. Eric and Natalia were an excellent fit. Horatio and Yelina were (and are) a good match. Horatio and Calleigh are a natural fit.

Will any of these happen? After 6 years of celibacy, I've concluded the writers are unable to present a viable couple on CSI Miami. Both CSI NY and CSI have seen cast regulars bedding each other. Not happening in Miami!
Too hot and humid in South Florida for playtime? So it would seem. The most "unrealistic" of the franchise remains in control of that title. Any unpredictible scenarios in store for Season 7? That would be the biggest surprise of all.

Does anyone really care anymore? They've been leading the viewers around with these various couples since the beginning. The only sexual tension is in the minds of TPTB. Some of Eric's good ol days would be refreshing at this point. A little neighborhood "toothing" may be in order.

I heard Rex Linn say he was the sexual tension in the show! Go gett'em Rex! Strange this shying away from relationships. The closest we came to anything human and suggestive of actual intimacy was Eric with a stranger by a building. And that was quite bizaar to me as the character was never developed in that direction, just one out of the box. ..........!

I don't know about tension, but Calleigh and Eric would make a nice couple if they ever did get together..

Knowing they are a couple would be good enough for me, I don't need to 'see' it, as in scenes of the two of them in bed together, or whatever. A nice pasionant kiss once in a while, ok.

But, I'd rather CSI: Miami stay a 'cop-drama' rather than try to mix that and the 'soap opera' thing.

I've never been into soaps!
The first time I heard 'Genoa City' I thought they were talking about the place where Genoa sausage was made! LOL!

But, that's just me. I say, let it stay a cop drama/procedrual and keep the romance/complicated relationships to a minimum.

If you throw tomatoes at me, I humbly request that they not be rotten. LOL!

Eric/Calleigh tension is the last thing I want to see happen to this show. They are great friends. Can't we just let them be friends? Why do they have to mess it up with sexual tension? All the smoldering looks between Horatio and Yelina nearly drove me away. Eric's reactions to Calleigh and Jake, the same. Let the romance be shortlived with guest stars.

It's so good to see you posting here, Javlin, in spite of the lunatic fringe.
They are playing up the "sexual tension" to the hilt, but it doesn't play in Peoria. The majority of viewers aren't in favor of these pairings; The most visible and the most vocal or verbal are. We watch for the crime, the solution and the character development. If we wanted sex and romance we'd watch Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewives.

I'm watching "Man Down" and "No Man's Land" right now and their friendship is so obvious. Why ruin such a good thing?
To appease the teenagers?

Yes, in order to appease the teens and the 18-49 demo. The women all want the romance injected, but that should be left to the soaps, day or night.

As recent as 2 years ago, there was little shipping for Eric and Calleigh. TPTB set us up for it and we swallow it, regardless of the stretch.

Lucy has a point.
Do TPTB on a tv show set us up for things just to 'feel' out the audience to see what we are gonna like or not like?
That's a very interesting question.
