The Closer: Fritz, you sly pus!
I’m a little under the weather (thrush) and this will be a short and sweet synopsis of The Closer – sorry
Well, well, well!
Our Fritzy has a devious side! I chuckled heartily when Fritz after dialing from his cell the home phone, pretended there was a “bomb threat” at the airport just to have an excuse to get out of the house. He made sure Brenda’s parents “overheard” his *heh heh heh* conversation by using his professional voice
“This is Special Agent Fritz Howard, **pause**, F-B-I!"
I half expected to hear the FBI theme music.
All this because he didn’t want to get railroaded into schlepping Brenda Leigh’s parents, Clay & Willie Rae, around like the last time she dumped them on him. Do you blame him? Some people don’t want to be bothered with their own elderly parents, and FUHGETTABOUT IT, their future in-laws too! And, speaking of in-laws, Clay made it abundantly clear that he expected co-habitants, Brenda and Fritz to announce a date for their wedding – and soon! Of course this doesn’t sit well with Brenda who always regress to an adolescent in the presence of her parents, instead of standing up to them as the capable, intelligent woman that she is. Fritz practically called her on it, but we’ll get into that in a moment.
It was nice to see the entire PHD squad together – hello Daniels! I thought that was a nice gesture when she reached out her hand to calm a still grieving Sanchez as he was stumbling and bumbling around. Again, I have to applaud the writers for the marvelous job they're doing with the continuity of characters storylines.
SPOILER ALERT
The murder mystery was interesting and I wish I felt better to discuss it. I knew offhand that the abusive ex-husband was not the murderer, but the discovery of that fact was terrifying. Bravo for Brenda for discerning that the young lady was in danger. Those wounds looked lethal!
Some favorite moments:
Clay’s facial expression as Provenza offered to entertain he and Willie Rae “We don’t need entertaining, I’m entertaining enough on my own”
Willie Rae gleefully asking, “Oh goodness, is this where they do ‘Dancing with the Stars’?”
Brenda “gloating” as Pope apologized (some apology) to the wife beater.
Fritz look of amazement and pride as Brenda puts Daddy in his place about her waiting so long to select a wedding date
Now, back to Fritz turning the tables on Brenda and putting his foot down about them picking a date to marry, yes, girlfriend, keep taking your time on planning your wedding and the next mystery you’ll solve is, how this woman with 3 hairs on her head stole your man!

Hi Rev! Willie Rae gleefully asking, “Oh goodness, is this where they do ‘Dancing with the Stars’?” That was one of my favorite lines as well-especially since I don't care for reality shows! (What????) I loved the trickle-down effect of the "controlling personalities" with Dad doing it to Brenda and in turn Brenda trying to control Fritz. It was great to see Brenda "try" and take a stand. Usually in those type of scenarios On TV, the person goes from completely timid to full-on aggressive, so I liked the fact that Brenda was still a little hesitant and did it in that quiet, shaky voice. I hate it when people on TV "grow up" from years of conditioned behavior all in one episode!! And of course I liked seeing Friz put his foot down!!
Thanks for doing this blog on an "off" day-PLEASE feel better, Rev!

Rev - I'm so sorry you're not feeling well and that you'll be able to get lots of rest today.
Thank you for still taking the time to do your Closer blog. Great job, as usual.
First of all: you sly pus! Ha! Right out of All About Eve, huh? One of my all-time favorite Bette Davis lines. I love that you're as into classic movies as I am.
So, Fritzy finally put one over on Brenda Leigh--I loved it, especially that self-satisfied look on his face when he knew he had pulled it off. I also loved the ultimatum he gave her at the end of the episode after she told off her dad (about time too!).
The case itself was so disturbing that it was good to get the few chuckles provided by Clay and Willie Rae and Fritzy's subterfuge.
I knew the ex-husband wasn't the murderer too, but I had a heck of a time trying to figure out who it was until they discovered the blonde hairs in Rachel's apartment and discerned that there was a second victim. So, it had to be whoever was responsible for the second victim, which is what it turned out be. That guy was major-scary. Thank goodness the whole squad was there to take him down and save the young woman from further harm. The non-verbal acting between Kyra and the young woman who played the victim was heart-wrenching. Good job!
Ditto on all of the favorite moments, though I would include all of Provenza's moments.
Now, back to Fritz turning the tables on Brenda and putting his foot down about them picking a date to marry, yes, girlfriend, keep taking your time on planning your wedding and the next mystery you’ll solve is, how this woman with 3 hairs on her head stole your man!
Ha! Good one, Rev. Wouldn't we all love to have a man like Fritzy.

Great episode...and recap, Miss Rev. I hope you're feeling better.
I've missed a few episodes, so can anyone tell me what happened between Gabriel and Daniels. Last I saw, they were yelling at each other in the interview room. I'm just curious to see how that was all resolved. TIA!

TVnista - We have no idea what happened between Gabriel and Daniels--it's still a big mystery. A couple of episodes ago, though, the emnity between them spilled into the squad room and Brenda had to haul them into her office to tell them to knock it off. She needed both of them on her team, but she couldn't let their personal issues affect the functioning of the PHD.
And that's all we know now.

Terrific blog Rev! I hope you get back up to speed soon....... I'm waiting patiently!
I loved this episode and for some reason I was caught completely off-guard by the real murderer!
I love the episodeds that feature Brenda's parents and this one did not disappoint! For some reason I was sure that Brenda's father was directing the marriage questions at Fritz and when Fritz delivered the ultimatum to Brenda at the end of the episode I was kind of surprised. If I would have been Fritz I would have thrown Brenda under the bus to her parents and made sure that they knew that Fritz wasn't the problem with setting a date for the marriage.
keep taking your time on planning your wedding and the next mystery you’ll solve is, how this woman with 3 hairs on her head stole your man!
what the heck?#$%#@ - what am I? chopped liver?
Next week is the season finale and I am expecting another cliff hanger. The previews show a threat to dispand the squad - let's hope for the best!!

Hey Rev, I hope you're feeling better today.
I loved this episode, it had so many laugh out loud moments. I think my favorite scene was the "apology" Pope made to the ex-husband. The look on the guys face was great.
Great recap!

*Thanks everyone for your good thoughts*
And of course I liked seeing Friz put his foot down!!
It was past time for Fritz to man-up!
First of all: you sly pus! Ha! Right out of All About Eve, huh? One of my all-time favorite Bette Davis lines. I love that you're as into classic movies as I am.
I knew YOU would get that All About Eve reference, Marci!
The non-verbal acting between Kyra and the young woman who played the victim was heart-wrenching. Good job!
Brenda noticing the young woman's head wound and her nervousness was simply good observation and police work.
I could't imagine Provenza marrying more than once. I would love if one of his ex-wives makes a visit to the squadroom.
I've missed a few episodes, so can anyone tell me what happened between Gabriel and Daniels
Hi Diva, and happy birthday again. I may have some shoes older than you! As Marci said, we don't know what happened between these two other than the fall-out wasn't pretty. Maybe we'll find out as a backstory line.
what the heck?#$%#@ - what am I? chopped liver?
Not at all, Ranger. You're one heck of a guy! Friends again?

I think my favorite scene was the "apology" Pope made to the ex-husband. The look on the guys face was great.
That guy was a jerk! And I hope he lost the part in the movie.

They were amazing, weren't they, Rev! Last night was the third time I'd watched them and it was the first time I made it though without crying (and I'm not much of a crier). They were still emotionally wretching, though; so well written and acted!

Wilson tore my heart out, but so did House. When Wilson found Amber's note......*heart being ripped from chest*
I guess they have what Ranger calls his relationship with Rod, "Bro-mance"
The writing and direction were splendid! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I loved how they told the backstory in conjunction with the medical mystery. And who was the bartender? He looks so familiar.
Megan, you know I thought of you when Cuddy of all people, was pole dancing! Lisa has an amazing body!
I hope the producers nominate these episodes because I couldn't find a false note in any of them.
I didn't care for Amber when she was first introduced but gee-whiz, I hated to see her go.....
Ranger - Thanks

The bartender was Fred Durst, the lead singer of the group Limp Bizkit.
Ha! I'm glad you thought of me during the pole dance. Wait, that didn't sound right. I think I've read more about the pole dancing scene in the past three months than anything else House-related. It seems like every interview with any member of the cast or crew had at least one question about it, and poor Lisa has detailed the entire experience more times than I can count. I guess that is the price you pay for looking that good in a bikini.
I love the Wilson and House "bromance," too, and it looks like it is headed for trouble this season. It should be interesting, and we all know they will reunite eventually.
I believe the first episode of the two is the one that was submitted for the show's Emmy race (it got nominated). It also earned nominations for the director and Hugh Laurie. I only wish that Robert Sean Leonard and Anne Dudek had gotten nominations for the second part.

I only wish that Robert Sean Leonard and Anne Dudek had gotten nominations for the second part.
They both deserved it. Their final scene together struck a cord in me...
I had no idea Wilson loved Amber that deeply, but also House loves Wilson....
I loved the scenes with Wilson popping up in House's hallucinations, questioning him about "what's going on in there?!"
"Amber's there? She better have her clothes on"
tee hee
