Last Night's Eli Stone
This will be quick highlights and observations about last night’s episode of Eli Stone:
-- Not that I haven’t been falling for Eli anyway…but last night confirmed my full love for the man. If only to have an airport moment like he had with Grace – that was so sweet.
-- It was nice to see Katie Holmes back on the small screen. The hoopla that surrounds her now can be distracting but there is no doubt that she can sing, can dance (she’s been a tap dancer for years) and I very much enjoyed her portrayal of the clumsy but sweet Grace Fuller.
-- I won't say much about last night's case other then it was a heartbreaker no matter how you look at it.
-- I rarely sniffle at TV but the scene with Nate telling Eli that he now knows why Eli’s aneurysm returned had me reaching for the tissues. As did finding out that Nate was the one who put orchestrated Eli’s meeting of Grace. And their Dad’s journal was an interesting twist and I look forward to seeing how that plays into future stories.
-- I have to say that I agree with Patti on the issue of the announcement – did Eli really expect her to send at a memo saying “Hey – remember that life threatening aneurysm that Eli thought been removed…well it came back”. But Eli solved that dilemma for her by shouting out his returned aliment
-- I am trying to figure out if I would prefer Jordan to lose his case because of what it might mean for Eli or win the case….because of what it might mean for Eli.
-- I am still not a Taylor fan…and I don’t think I ever am going to be.
-- I hope that we get some musical scene as we continue forward – though it’s nice to see that they seem to be exploring other music, like jazz, then just Top 40’s Pop!

Hi Escape..........good job. I just love this show. I have not been a big fan of Katie Holmes....until now. There were some real neat scenes with Eli and Katie...good stuff. Like to see her dance and sing some more. For some reason, I was just worn out by the whole thing when it was over. (mother and father fighting over the remains of their fallen soldier....sad.) This series has real promise.
Look forward to your next Eli Stone review.
xoxo, Zia

I LOVE ELI STONE!
Well I admit that I had my concerns about Katie Holmes as a guest star on one of my favorite shows. It's not that I do not like her, it was mainly based on the polarizing effect that her spouse Tom Cruise has on fans. They either hate him or love him. I myself am in Tom's corner when it comes to his movie roles. I was worried that Katie would not perform well and would be a detriment to one of my favorite shows. I even read a blogger post yesterday that they refused to watch Eli even if it was one of their favorite shows because 'she' was on it!
Well in my opinion Katie Holmes knocked it out of the park in her appearance. She did so well I am hoping that her character Grace will return to bring Eli some happiness!
I loved this episode. I laughed and cried and enjoyed every last minute of it!

Hi CA,
I loved last night's episode, especially the opening musical number. I had never seen Katie Holmes in anything before, and I found her quite charming. I could see why she's such a big hit on Broadway. I'm a huge jazz fan, so the music on this episode was a real treat for me.
Although the case was tragic, and my heart ached at the waste of that young man's life, I thought it was clever how they weaved the name "Ellington" into the storyline.
Grace and Eli's storyline was heartbreaking, although we knew Katie wasn't going to be back on the show, so Grace was going to go. This is the problem with stunt casting--we always know the big-name guest star's storyline is going end because their character isn't going to be staying. The writing for it, however, was brilliant.
I was choking up during the scene between Nate and Eli too. I can't wait to see what else is in Dad's journal.
One small quibble--who in the hell are the Marvels, and what is Marvel Stadium??!! I live in the Bay Area, and we have two major league baseball teams and a minor league team--none of them are called the Marvels. Why can't they write one of our real teams into the episode instead of making up a fake one? I was very irksome.

Hi CA!
I just realized last night while watching that I had never actually seen Katie act in anything. I had seen her all over the place since the romance with TC started so I guess I thought I had seen her in something or other, but I hadn't. I thought she was just wonderful, very well cast in her guest role. I wish she was a permanent cast member. Grace and Eli definitely had promise together.
Marci, I don't know who the Marvels are either! It's so annoying when they do that, seemingly for no reason. I'll never forget on an early episode of Dark Angel they showed a map of the island I live on. It has a very distinct shape and it was clearly this island, and they called is some made up name! WTH??? Irksome, indeed!

Last night's episode was another winner for me.
I had an "airport moment" once (I think I told you all about it), but it didn't have the happy ending that Eli's moment had. Not even close.

I love this show. And the story could have Katie returning now & again. Even though she has a heart disease & he has an aneurysm--maybe they could have some more happy moments. All in all, another solid show.

I'm really interested in Dad's journal. I wonder what else is in there about Eli? I'd love to see Tom Cavanaugh again- here's hoping we get flashbacks to some of those entries being written.
